SBA Offers Assistance to Those Affected by Heavy Rains in Frederick County

FREDERICK, MD – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide disaster assistance in the form of low-interest loans to homeowners, renters, businesses, non-profits and co-ops, who apply and qualify. These loans can be used to repair or replace real estate, personal property including vehicles, inventory, equipment and more. If your loan is approved, you may also be eligible for additional funding towards the cost of improvements to protect your property against future damages from a similar disaster.

“Frederick County residents and businesses can benefit from the SBA loan program in large part because of citizens’ willingness to complete our damage assessment survey,” said County Executive Jan Gardner. “Information gathered from the surveys allowed the Division of Emergency Management and our state and federal partners to determine the scope of damage caused by heavy May rains.”

A Disaster Loan Outreach Center will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, June 25, through Friday, June 29, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at the Public Safety Training Facility located at 5370 Pubic Safety Place, Frederick, MD 21704. SBA staff will be on-site to issue loan applications and answer questions about the program.

You do not need to apply in person for assistance. Loan applications and information on the program and can also be found at https://disasterloan.sba.gov, by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (TTY/TTD 1-800-877-8339), or by e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Applications will be accepted now through Aug. 13, 2018.

Residents are also reminded to call the Flooding Disaster Assistance Hotline, 1-888-756-7836, for information and referrals to additional government programs or volunteer organizations that may be able to provide flood recovery assistance.
