One-Stop Shop Permitting to Resume

Following a pause due to COVID-19 in-person restrictions, The City of Frederick’s

One-Stop Shop permitting will resume on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.  

The One-Stop Shop occurs every Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m at the City’s Annex Building (140 W Patrick Street). One-Stop Shop provides SAME-DAY permitting for certain small projects, including tenant fit-out and sign permits.

Walk in with a completed application and all necessary documentation —-and walk out with your permit!

PERMIT TYPES LISTED BELOW ARE ELIGIBLE FOR  THE ONE-STOP SHOP PROCESS:

  • Re-roofing

  • Tenant fit-out (existing tenant space, 5,000 sq. ft. max., no structural changes, no change-of-use as defined in the Building Code or Land Management Code, no hazardous conditions)

  • Temporary Trailers (construction, portable classrooms with engineering drawings, sales, etc.)

  • Signs

  • Zoning Applications

  • Basement finishes (cannot create new dwelling unit)

  • Residential Interior Renovation (no increase in habitable space or structural changes)

  • Fences

  • Decks

  • Sheds

  • Pools/Hot Tubs/Spas (residential /non-public)

  • Residential Garage/carport

  • Residential Paving for Driveway/Parking areas when required (pavers, cement, asphalt, etc.)

  • Retaining walls not over 5’ high

  • Demolition (accessory structures w/no utilities)

Permit applications that are eligible for the One-Stop Shop permitting process that are also required to have Historic Preservation Commission approvalmust be accompanied by the HPC Certificate of Approval including all supporting documentation.  Any conditions of approval must be met PRIOR to submitting the permit application.
