What's New at Harry Grove?

It’s time to play ball!

As the players shake their cleats out and fans settle back into their favorite seats, we take a look at a few exciting changes coming to Harry Grove Stadium.

Welcoming the Frederick Atlantic League Professional Baseball Team

New this year, the stadium will be home to TWO baseball clubs: the returning MLB Draft League’s Frederick Keys, and a new Frederick Atlantic League Professional Baseball team.

The Frederick Atlantic League team is a professional baseball franchise in the South Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. The league is an official MLB Partner League based in the Mid-Atlantic and composed of top tier talent, including former major leaguers and high-level affiliate players. The Frederick Atlantic League team roster features household names such as Starlin Castro and Jimmy Paredes, along with other former MLB players.

The new team held a name-the-team contest in January 2023, allowing the community to submit potential team names. The final team name will be unveiled on June 23 when the team takes the field. Until then, the team’s hats and jerseys will feature question marks in place of a name.

Double the fun

Having two Frederick-based teams will give fans an even greater opportunity to watch high-caliber baseball in our hometown. If you love going to the ballpark, there are a lot more games this year— 88 games in 133 days!

This summer the stadium will also host 25 Firework Super Shows. Both teams have an impressive line-up of fun promotions ready — including Star Wars Night, Independence Day Celebration, Margaritaville Night, Scout Night, Super Splash Day, and more!

Frederick Sports Mural

This summer will also mark the official kick-off of the Frederick Sports Mural project at Harry Grove Stadium. The planned stadium art project by local artist Yemi Fagbohun will be 550 feet long and 14 feet tall -- making it one of the largest sports murals in the world. The mural will celebrate 125 years of history in more than 30 sports and will recognize 5 coaches and 250 athletes who got their start here in Frederick County.
