Community Promotion Grant | Grants that Continue to Give

Lauren Paulet, Community Engagement Specialist:

Nonprofits are the heart of our community, and it’s quite easy to see. If you’ve ever walked down North Market St. you’ve probably passed the ACNB Bank Community Window. This lovely display highlights a different nonprofit each month, but it’s a small window into the world of over 1000 nonprofit organizations working tirelessly to provide essential services and resources for our residents in Frederick.

Recognizing the unique impact of our giving community, The City of Frederick created the Community Promotion Grant in 2017 to uplift and support our local nonprofits. The Community Promotion Grant cycle begins every year in the fall, offering nonprofits an opportunity to fund existing initiatives or pilot something new.

This year’s funding supports a myriad of programs, ranging from new programs like the Survivors Speakers Bureau at Heartly House, to Habitat for Humanity’s Home Repair program for seniors, and even a language interpreting software for the Interfaith Housing Alliance to reduce barriers for those facing housing insecurity.

Mayor Michael O’Connor has begun a tour of this year’s 41 grant recipients. “It’s important for the City to keep a pulse on the nonprofit community and understand the challenges and opportunities lie ahead for our grantees,” said Mayor O’Connor, “We know these organizations fill gaps and provides services that the city would otherwise not be able to provide.”

Last week, Mayor O’Connor paid a visit to the Federated Charities - our city’s very own nonprofit center. Its walls house eight of our grantees, who utilize its services to generate a sizeable impact across the city. You can learn more about each of these organizations here:

The Community Promotion Grant is an opportunity for 501 c(3), c(4) & c(6) organizations. Up to $20,000 in funding is available per organization.
