In the wake of BIO International 2018, you may have prepared to resign yourself to a year-long wait for another such impressive gathering of scientific minds. Fortunately, Frederick's location within one of the nation's leading BIO clusters allows ready access to incredible mind-power on a year round basis.
Below is a glance at just a few of these meetings that offer local, yet world-class networking, educational, and development experiences within the Bio and Life Science industries:
NCI & Frederick National Laboratory's Technology Showcase
On June 13, 2018, the second annual Technology Showcase was hosted at NCI and Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR) to encourage startup company formation, technology licensing, and collaborations. The event brought together hundreds of technology development stakeholders from across the region, and included networking opportunities throughout the day. The success of the event has ensured demand for the event again next year -- mark your calendars early.

Though not a physical venue, Bio Buzz undeniably represents an impressive gathering of scientific minds. Recently revamped, this regional digital media company is dedicated to localizing the business of biotech by telling the stories of entrepreneurs, scientists, and companies in the BioHealth Capital Region.
FITCI's Funded and Brews
Recognizing the comprehensive role of an incubator to bring ideas to life, the leaders of Frederick-based FITCI developed the "Funded and Brews" series to address the financial realities of a start-up. The series focuses on helping science & technology - minded entrepreneurs raise necessary fundings in the early stages of their business. Past events have invited CEO's who have successfully raised capital for their companies to share their stories over a few cold brews.
Keep an eye on FITCI's webpage for information on the next installment of the 'Funded and Brews' series.
Bio Capital Health Region Forum
The invitation-only event is free for executive level biotech leaders and is presented by BioHealth Innovation, VirginiaBio, Inova, Children’s National Health System, QIAGEN, Maryland Tech Council, University System of Maryland and MedImmune/AstraZeneca. Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC set the bar high for biotech innovation. The annual forum is focused on advancing science and accelerating innovation.
The program features a talented line up of speakers and a "Shark Tank"-esque competition renamed -- in true Maryland fashion -- the "Crab Trap."
