Earlier this week, Governor Larry Hogan announced the awardees from the Fiscal Year 2021 application round for state revitalization programs administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development. Frederick County restaurants and food service businesses are being offered a second round of grants to support the hard-hit industry. County Executive Jan Gardner announced that an additional $1.3 million would be distributed this month. Food service businesses that received funding in the first round will automatically receive a second grant. Those that did not receive funds in the fall may apply now through 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 13.
Though passed through Federal legislation, PPP was designed to be administered privately through local SBA-approved lenders. With just days of notice to implement the program, the clock started ticking almost immediately for local lenders scrambling to help their community reach these ‘first-come first-serve’ funds before they were exhausted.
