Tech Games

Thirty-six teams from the Frederick tech community gathered at Baker Park to participate in the third annual Tech Games, sponsored by the tech advocacy non-profit: Tech Frederick. The popular networking event fosters local comradery through an Olympic-style series of games - including Xtreme Laser Tag, Soccer Darts, and the Munchkin Donut Eating Contest. Big congrats to electronics recycling company, e-End, who captured the title this year!

Check out this year’s scouting report for the full list of 2018 participants (complete with amusing team roster photos) and read the Frederick News Post’s recap for a breakdown of the day.

Tech Frederick Networking Breakfast

Continuing the momentum from the wildly successful TechGames earlier this month, Tech Frederick regrouped to host its next networking event. The event was part of a regular breakfast series that brings local professionals together to eat, network, and learn.

This month, keynote speaker Vaughn Thurman — CEO of several local tech companies — humbly and openly discussed his personal business experiences in “Lessons from the Edge.” The talk shared his lessons learned in order to help others avoid his same mistakes, and highlight some of the tools he found in hard places that helped him survive, sustain, and recover from what many advisers diagnosed as an ‘unrecoverable’ business situation.

These breakfast events occur quarterly — keep an eye out for the next one here.
