Frederick County Liquor Board to Host 5th Annual Public Alcohol Forum

The Board of Licensed Commissioners (Liquor Board) for Frederick County will be hosting the 5th Annual Public Alcohol Forum virtually, on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 8:30 a.m..  The forum is designed to take input and solicit ideas for the 2021 Legislative Session.

The Frederick County Liquor Board works with over 700 licensed restaurants, breweries, clubs, retail establishments and special events.  For Frederick County Licensees, this forum represents an opportunity to share ideas and general concerns about current alcohol laws, new laws or any proposed legislation that could impact the Liquor Board and Licensees.

Over the last couple of months, staff has solicited ideas from licensees and the public; below is a current list of issues that have been received:

o    Lift seating requirement for Class B, BWL License to be consistent with Class B Beer and Beer/Wine License.

o    Continuation of Carry-out cocktails to continue for Class B (canned and un-canned) after the Executive Order expiration.

o    Correct alcohol content for Class B from 14.5% to 22% to be consistent in statute.

o    Class A would like an on-site consumption privilege like Montgomery County has with their Class D establishments that have liquor stores attached.

o    Salon/Barber Shop modification to consider a change to one can/bottle of beer so that an establishment is not wasting beer or having to invest in draft systems.

Given the virtual session this year, the Frederick County Liquor Board respectfully requests you to RSVP by October 20, 2020  via Email. They will provide an event link upon confirmation.
